The Parochial church of St. John the Baptist stands on
the spot of earlier churches. The present church was consecrated on 27th
August 1766.
The tower was started in 1784 and completed in 1803. It
is of octagonal design with a perimeter of 27 metres, and is 68 metres in
height. Its four sections are divided by stone strings |

The
tower is crowned by a great balustrade capped by an image of St John the
Baptist. It forms a spectacular sight at night with its impressive
illumination. |

The impressive facade of the church hides a typically
false 'front wall'. The interior is most attractive, but, sadly, the church
is usually locked for reasons of security. |
